WELCOME

Welcome to our webpage!

The VMartins team works in two locations:

the
Cellular Immunology Lab in Ulm, Germany
(Medical Faculty of the University of Ulm)

and

the
Lymphocyte Development and Leukemogenesis lab
at the Medical Faculty in Lisbon
(Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa)

Our team was started in 09/2015 at the
Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência, and transited to the
Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine (GIMM),
resulting from the merger with another institute on the 01/10/2024.

We do Fundamental Research with the Aim of understanding how hematopoietic progenitor cells generate T lymphocytes to protect the organism, and how can they become malignant and cause leukemia.
We use mouse models for our research and human samples that we obtain from Clinical collaborators that share our interest about lympho-hematopoeisis and leukemia.
